The Cryptography Group is part of the Security Lab in the Computer Science Department at UNC Chapel Hill. We conduct research and teach courses on all areas of cryptography, with a particular focus on applications of cryptography to important problems in privacy and security.
Cryptography Reading Group We organize a cryptography reading group that meets every other Friday morning. Email Saba or Julia if you would like to join or if you would like to give a talk.

We are looking for new PhD students for Fall 2026!
UNC CS admissions are handled centrally by an admissions committee, and labs do not directly admit students on their own. Please see the UNC CS admissions page for information about applying.
UNC Students: We generally recommend that UNC undergraduate or MS students interested in cryptography research start by taking COMP 537: Cryptography. Feel free to email us or come to our office hours if you want to discuss getting involved.
